Motivation Matters…

Getting and staying motivated!

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to always maintain a healthy weight or bounce back to their pre pregnancy weight without a bother whilst some of us struggle to just get out of bed in the morning never mind hitting the gym! What do they know that you don’t? Well it can boil down to one simple thing…motivation! The missing link may well be your motivation to do something. (Yes we know there are so many things that get in the way of exercising or choosing the right foods but motivation to do something about it and make changes is key.)

If you feel that your motivation levels are lacking or in fact are non existence, the following may well help you to get some focus and invest in “you” in this crazy tiring time having just had a baby.

Ask yourself what is your motivator

Motivation will come from having a goal, so it is important to be specific in what that goal is. Is it about getting more energy, getting in shape, losing some of the baby weight, feeling more confident? Take time to unearth what that motivation is and why it is important to you.

So by having more energy what will that mean to you? How will you notice or see the difference? It is so important when setting a goal that you unearth the outcome of that goal. What is the real reason you want to lose that baby weight, is it because it will make you feel better about yourself, give your more confidence etc.

Once you uncover what it is, this will help you keep your focus.

Write it down-commit to it

Writing a goal down somehow makes it feel more official as well as helping to remind you why you want to achieve this goal. Write down your motivation for losing weight or whatever it is you are committed to, and put it somewhere that will be a reminder to you daily. Visualisation can be very powerful in helping you achieve any goal, so every time you see that goal written down take a minute to see yourself having achieved your goal. How great do you look and feel?

Be realistic

Its’ time now to get those good habits formed to help you achieve your goal. It is so important to have a realistic and have a practical plan especially now that you have a baby to factor in not to mention the lack of sleep and hormones that may be playing havoc with your body. Set small goals that are realistic to fit into your day, if you are looking to lose some weight think about:

  1. Making good choices when it comes to food (the key here is preparation so that you have healthy snacks to grab). Get your free snack guide BY CLICKING HERE
  2. It is not a race, be sensible in what your body is ready for and choose exercises that you enjoy and is accessible. That’s why CARiFiT is so great for new mums as you don’t need to leave the house and you can get your little one off to sleep as you work towards your goals!
  3. Daily walks are easy to slot into your routine and burn some calories.
  4. Meet with other mums or friends and share your goal, having a network of support is always great.

The fundamental thing in achieving any goal is your commitment to it. Really dig deep when setting a goal and focus on what it will do for you. This will help you when you hit a roadblock and keep you on track.

Good Luck….
